Two Mighty Men

A Prayer for a Blessing

For Josiah and Isaac on their 4th Birthday

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit" (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

Two strong pillars

1.   Today, O Lord, we celebrate
         The precious birth of two
And pray Your blessing on each one
That they would look to You
Protect them as they journey through
        A world full of strife
That they would find the way of peace
         In Christ, eternal life

2.   Thank you for their Christian home
        Where Jesus is adored
That early they may hear His name
And know that He is Lord
Guide them as they grow, O Lord
And turn their hearts to You
That they would run from every sin
        And righteousness pursue

3.   Teach them at an early age
To know and love Your Word
     Help them process and retain
The truths that they have heard
     Craft with loving discipline
        Instruction and the rod
That one day you would make of them
        Two mighty men of God

4.   Come and give Your blessing, Lord
Through tears and smiles and joys
Give their parents strength and grace
To love and raise their boys
     Josiah, Isaac, hear these words
        This is our heart-felt prayer
That one day you will come to Christ
        And in His blessings share

Written for two special twin boys on their 4th birthday. My prayer that they would grow up to know and walk in the ways of the Lord, and become mighty men in His Kingdom.
