Perhaps the most fertile ground for hymn writing is meditation on the preached Word of God. There is always great value, especially as we weather the storms and trials of life, of staying under the faithful preaching of the Bible. And there is even greater value in taking time to ponder, pray through, and preach that biblical truth to our own souls.<\/p>\n

That has proven to be true with the recent sermon series through the book of Ecclesiastes entitled “Real Life in a Fallen World” preached by Dr. Tom Ascol at Grace Baptist Church, Cape Coral, Florida. This is the third hymn I have written while meditating on messages from the series. The other two are: \u201cWhat Can Be Gained by All Our Toil?<\/a>\u201d and \u201cEternal God Exalted<\/a>.\u201d When you consider the vanity of life, the wages of sin, and the certainty of coming judgment, how great is our need of a Savior!<\/p>\n

\"Storm<\/a><\/p>\n

How Shall We Stand in That Great Day?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

For God will bring every work into judgment,<\/em>
\nIncluding every secret thing,<\/em>
\nWhether good or evil. <\/em>
\n(Ecclesiastes 12:14)<\/em><\/p>\n

1. How shall we stand in that great day
\nWhen secrets are revealed,
\nWhen thoughts and motives are laid bare
\nAnd nothing is concealed?<\/p>\n

2. On that great day when God will judge
\nOur every word and deed,
\nWithout excuse, our mouths will close,
\nFor guilty we must plead.<\/p>\n

3. The deeds we do, the thoughts we think
\nWill matter on that day;
\nEach sinful act, each secret thought,
\nEach careless word we say.<\/p>\n

4. O sinner, if you face that day
\nAlone, you will not stand.
\nThe Law will charge and you will fall,
\nCondemned by just command.<\/p>\n

5. Our only hope when that day comes:
\nThat Christ died in our place;
\nHe bore Himself the wrath of God
\nThat we might know His grace.<\/p>\n

6. O sinner, come before that day,
\nCome look to Christ and live!
\nTake refuge in His righteousness;
\nYour sins He will forgive.<\/p>\n

7. With certainty that day draws near,
\nO why would you delay?
\nTomorrow is not guaranteed,
\nCome trust in Christ today!<\/p>\n
