<\/a><\/p>\nToday we gather in this place
\nTo join in one accord,
\nAnd as one body lift our voice
\nTo glorify the Lord.
\nThe Sabbath is a gift of God
\nA day of great delight;
\nSo let us come and seek the Lord
\nAnd in His truth unite.<\/p>\n
A day to pray and meditate
\nOn truth proclaimed and heard;
\nA day of conversations filled
\nWith discourse on God’s Word.
\nA day for us to fellowship,
\nEncourage and console;
\nA day to hear the Scriptures read,
\nA feast day for the soul.<\/p>\n
In the beginning God revealed
\nHis character to man,
\nHis Moral Law was manifest
\nWithin creation’s plan.
\nFor in six days did God create,
\nThe seventh day He blest,
\nAnd gave to us one day in seven
\nTo be a day of rest.<\/p>\n
A holy day meant for our good
\nGod graciously provides;
\nA day that has not passed away,
\nBut in each age abides.
\nSo now in the New Covenant
\nA Sabbath still remains,
\nA day to celebrate our King,
\nWho rose again and reigns.<\/p>\n
As God the Father rested when
\nCreation’s work was done,
\nNow we look to a greater rest
\nAccomplished by His Son.
\nOur Sabbath is fulfilled in Christ,
\nWe rest in Him alone
\nAnd celebrate one day in seven,
\nThe day He calls His own.<\/p>\n
Christ rose again the morning of
\nThe first day of the week;
\nSo we with joy each Lord’s Day meet,
\nHis Word to know and seek.
\nSo let us not forsake the day,
\nBut gather in His name,
\nAnd corporately bow down and make
\nHis praise our only aim.<\/p>\n
