It Is Enough
"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own
soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:26).
VERSE
1. I cannot be poor if I am in Christ,
In Him I am full and abound.
Though everything else should all pass away,
I'm rich if in Him I am found.
CHORUS
It is enough that I am in Christ,
Enough that His mercy I see.
It is enough that I taste of His grace,
Enough that His love has found me.
VERSE
2. Pursue not this world, its wisdom and ways;
Contentment eludes those who try.
For all in this world is fading away,
And soon will all wither and die.
CHORUS
It is enough that I am in Christ,
Enough that His mercy I see.
It is enough that I taste of His grace,
Enough that His love has found me.
VERSE
3. What profits a man if he gains the world,
Yet loses his soul in the end?
And what will the joys of this life be worth,
If you face the judgment condemned?
CHORUS
It is enough that I am in Christ,
Enough that His mercy I see.
It is enough that I taste of His grace,
Enough that His love has found me.
VERSE
4. If I am in Christ, I have all I need,
Adopted and loved as a son.
It will be enough that I see my Lord,
And hear Him say to me: "Well done."
CHORUS
It is enough that I am in Christ,
Enough that His mercy I see.
It is enough that I taste of His grace,
Enough that His love has found me.

TUNE: REID CHAPEL (5.5.8.5.5.8. with chorus)
THEME: Christ is all I need
This hymn is based on Jesus' words in Matthew 16:26 and 25:21, 23 (the parable of the talents). There is nothing more important or valuable in this life than trusting Christ and finding that He is all we need. I wrote the hymn on July 22, 2000 while traveling home after attending the Southern Baptist Founders Conference in Birmingham, Alabama. The tune is named REID CHAPEL for the meeting place of the conference at Samford University The theme that year was The Providence of God. One of the many wonderful messages during was conference was preached by Dr. Fred Malone on "The Providence of God and Persoanl Experience." I wrote in my notes his second main point: "We should actively respond to the providence of God with a living, biblical faith in Jesus Christ, especially when we do not understand. Our hope is in Christ, not our own wisdom." I did not have paper nearby when I began composing the hymn. The first words were written on the back of a receipt from Cracker Barrel (a favorite stop when traveling to and from the conference.
